China's International Travel Health Care Centers are Customs-affiliated public-health service institutions, but the institutional name is not a universal service promise. A regional center or branch may handle some combination of outbound travel health examinations, vaccinations, prior-record transcription, International Certificates of Vaccination or Prophylaxis, foreign forms, or health examinations and overseas-record verification for people working, studying or residing in China. The exact center, branch and appointment type control what is available. This R1 guide helps international users identify the institution, choose the correct administrative transaction, prepare identity and recipient documents, and preserve the resulting record. It does not recommend a vaccine or examination, reproduce a schedule, decide eligibility or contraindications, interpret results, list current country requirements, or guarantee a service, appointment, stock, price, turnaround, passport workflow, English support, insurance payment, certificate issue, border clearance or overseas acceptance.

Use this as a practical starting point

Provider procedures can change, so confirm time-sensitive details with the hospital, insurer or service. A licensed professional must make clinical decisions for an individual patient.

At a glance

Key points

  • Use the national International Travel Health Care Center directory as a discovery layer, then verify the exact regional center, branch and transaction through its current official channel.
  • Do not assume every center or branch provides every examination, vaccination, transcription, foreign-form or certificate service.
  • Name the output before booking: a provider report, domestic vaccination credential, ICVP, foreign form, administrative examination certificate and overseas-record validation certificate are different documents.
  • Keep outbound travel health work separate from the work, study and residence health-examination route used by foreign nationals inside China.
  • The destination or transit authority owns its entry requirement; the center owns its service and certificate decision; China Customs owns Chinese border health inspection; the carrier controls boarding under its rules.
  • Follow the exact center's identity, photograph, record, form, preparation and payment instructions without transferring another city's checklist.
  • A booking, payment or completed examination does not guarantee that the center will issue the requested document or that another authority will accept it.
  • Preserve the appointment, issuer, document version, receipt and recipient requirement so an error or rejection can be routed to the correct owner.
01

Understand what the institution name does and does not establish

The national service platform lists regional International Travel Health Care Centers and connects them to their Customs affiliations. Use that directory to locate a possible responsible institution. Then open the center's current official page or contact channel and confirm its Chinese name, affiliation, branch, address and requested service. A directory entry does not show live capacity, product stock, passport-system support or every branch's business scope.

Do not treat the center as an ordinary hospital directory entry or a single national clinic. The Qinghai service guide, Beijing provider page, Shanghai certificate guide and Shanghai administrative-examination page show different transactions and local workflows. Their value is to demonstrate service separation, not to create one nationwide checklist. A branch that performs health examinations may not handle vaccination, and a vaccination or certificate counter may be in another location.

Record the institution and transaction together. If a school, employer, consulate, destination authority or travel agent says to use the travel health center, ask it to name the required output rather than relying on the institution label alone.

  • Regional center's full Chinese and English names
  • Customs affiliation
  • Exact branch and address
  • Requested service and document output
  • Official appointment and enquiry channel
  • Date of confirmation

A center listing identifies an institution; only the center's current transaction and branch instructions identify the usable service.

02

Choose the transaction before choosing the branch

Ask whether the task is an outbound travel health examination, an ordinary outbound vaccination service, a yellow-fever or other defined international-certificate service, prior-record transcription, completion of a foreign authority's medical form, or a work, study or residence health examination or overseas-record verification. Some centers publish these as separate appointment types with different locations, identity materials and outputs.

Write the document title exactly as the recipient states it. An examination report can record findings without being the final certificate. A domestic adult vaccination credential records a provider service but is not automatically an ICVP. An ICVP follows an international form and authorized issuer. A verification certificate for an overseas physical-examination record belongs to the administrative work, study or residence route and does not prove a traveller completed a destination's visa medical.

If the requirement is unclear, return to the recipient before booking. The center can explain its own services but does not make every destination's immigration, public-health, visa, school, employer or airline rule. Do not purchase an examination or vaccination solely because a third-party checklist uses a generic phrase such as health certificate.

  • Outbound travel health examination
  • Travel or other vaccination service
  • ICVP or named international certificate
  • Prior-record review or transcription
  • Foreign medical form service
  • Work, study or residence examination
  • Overseas physical-examination record verification
03

Find the current center and verify the exact branch

Use the national directory or a current Customs, government or center page to identify the responsible regional center. Match the official Chinese institution name and Customs affiliation. Then ask the center which branch handles the exact transaction, whether booking is required, which current channel is authoritative and whether an enquiry, registration or payment step occurs before an appointment is confirmed.

Do not generalize a branch from another service. Shanghai's work, study and residence examination booking route is cited specifically to show that an institutional brand and one branch can be tied to a defined administrative examination. It does not prove the same branch handles an ICVP or outbound vaccination. Beijing's outbound vaccination page likewise does not turn a community vaccination booking or another center into the same service.

Save the confirmation showing the applicant, service, branch, date and required documents. If the website, official account, telephone answer and recipient instructions conflict, ask the center to identify the controlling current notice. Mark unresolved details as unconfirmed rather than selecting the nearest address from a map.

Never choose a branch from the center name alone. The appointment confirmation should name both the transaction and location.

04

Keep travel services and China residence examinations separate

A foreign national may use an International Travel Health Care Center for a health examination or validation record connected with work permission, school registration or residence documentation in China. That inbound administrative route has its own recipient, legal basis, validity questions, identity materials and final certificate. It is not an outbound travel-health consultation and does not automatically create an international vaccination certificate.

Conversely, a travel vaccination appointment, prior-record transcription or ICVP service does not satisfy a work, study or residence health-examination file merely because the same center issued it. Use the site's separate health-examinations collection for that administrative route and follow the exact work-permit, school or exit-entry authority instructions.

Also keep a voluntary routine checkup separate. A hospital package can provide a health report without being the center-issued document named by an immigration, visa or border process. Ask the recipient which institution and output it accepts before booking.

  • Outbound travel or destination process
  • China work-permit process
  • International-student or school process
  • China residence-document process
  • Voluntary routine health check
  • Clinical visit for symptoms or ongoing care
05

Build the center-specific identity and recipient pack

Follow only the exact center's current checklist. Common document categories can include the original passport, photographs, prior records, appointment evidence, itinerary or destination requirement, and the recipient's original form, but the number, format and necessity vary by service and center. This guide deliberately does not publish one universal checklist.

Preserve original overseas or prior vaccination evidence and label translations. Do not pre-fill clinical findings, add undocumented entries or translate a product into a guessed equivalent. If a foreign form is involved, ask whether the center requires the original form, a specific language, photographs, signatures, laboratory or imaging attachments, or recipient verification. The center decides what it can complete within its service.

Ask how the passport name should be entered and what to do when a prior record uses an old passport, former name or different transliteration. Do not shorten a name or select a false identity type to pass a platform. Confirm interpreter or accessibility support separately; an international label does not guarantee English support or accommodation at every branch and appointment.

  • Original passport and identity-matching evidence
  • Official appointment confirmation
  • Center-specified photographs or forms
  • Original prior records and requested translations
  • Exact recipient or destination requirement
  • Itinerary only where the center requests it
  • Language, representative and accessibility arrangement
06

Map the four decision owners for an international journey

The destination or transit authority defines its current entry, visa, health or vaccination-document requirement for the itinerary and date. The International Travel Health Care Center decides whether it offers the requested service, what evidence it can verify and what report or certificate it can issue. China Customs applies current Chinese border-health inspection and can request relevant evidence under the applicable law and international framework. The operating carrier separately applies its boarding and document-check process.

Do not let one party's answer substitute for another's. A center appointment does not prove a destination requires or will accept the document. A destination webpage does not reserve a China service. A carrier's boarding check is not the destination's final admission decision. A China Customs service page is not a complete country-requirement database. Record each answer with its owner, source and date.

This website does not decide whether a traveller needs a vaccination, examination, prophylaxis or exemption. It also does not assess a medical contraindication or create an exemption certificate. Route clinical questions to the responsible qualified provider and legal or entry questions to the competent authority.

  • Destination or transit authority: current requirement
  • Issuing center: service, verification and document output
  • China Customs: Chinese port health inspection
  • Operating carrier: boarding and carriage process

Four decision owners can review the same journey. No single booking or certificate guarantees every later decision.

07

Confirm preparation, fees, timing and collection with the center

Use the center's appointment-specific preparation instructions. Different examinations and vaccinations can have different requirements, and individual health questions require provider advice. Do not fast, stop medicine, change treatment, delay necessary care or follow another center's clinical instructions because an old service page looked similar.

Ask for the current itemized charges and what they include. Separate examination, vaccination, administration, record, certificate, transcription, form, courier or other stated fees. Ask which payment methods are accepted, when a receipt is issued, and what happens if the center cannot complete the requested output. A published fee or another person's invoice does not guarantee the final amount for this case.

Ask when the record or certificate is expected, how collection or courier identity is checked, and what can extend the process. A turnaround estimate is not a deadline guarantee. Do not make non-refundable travel commitments that assume issue by a particular date without the center's written status and a contingency plan.

08

Check the issued document and route any problem to its owner

At collection, check the official title, issuer, adult's identity, dates, entries, stamps, signatures, serial or booklet information and any attached pages that the center asks the holder to protect. Compare it with the passport and recipient request. Do not write in, erase, laminate, separate or alter the document without issuer instructions.

For an identity or factual issuance error, contact the issuing center with the original document, passport, receipt and source evidence. For a missing service or branch problem, use the center's official enquiry or complaint route. For a destination rejection, ask the destination authority what requirement or field was not met. For a carrier problem, preserve the carrier's written reason. These are separate owners and remedies.

Store a secure copy with the appointment, payment and recipient evidence, while protecting any QR code or sensitive health data. A correct-looking document is not a website guarantee of authenticity, current validity for a purpose or acceptance. Recheck the exact itinerary and authority close to travel because public-health requirements and operational channels can change.

  • Document title and issuer
  • Passport-linked identity fields
  • Dates and provider-created entries
  • Required stamps, signatures and serial information
  • Receipt and collection evidence
  • Issuer correction contact
  • Recipient, border and carrier answers kept separately

Avoidable problems

Common mistakes

  • Assuming every International Travel Health Care Center provides every service
  • Choosing a branch from a directory or map without confirming the transaction
  • Booking a work, study or residence examination for an outbound travel purpose
  • Calling a domestic adult vaccination record an ICVP
  • Treating a travel certificate as a China residence health certificate
  • Copying another city's document, photograph or preparation checklist
  • Relying on a destination blog or travel agent instead of the competent authority
  • Treating a center appointment as proof of need, stock, issue or acceptance
  • Assuming an international name guarantees English or passport-system support
  • Making non-refundable travel commitments around an estimated issue date
  • Altering a certificate instead of using the issuer's correction route

Common questions

Frequently asked questions

Does every International Travel Health Care Center offer vaccination?

No such nationwide promise should be made. Use the national directory to find the regional institution, then confirm the exact service, branch, appointment type, current capacity and identity route through that center's official channel.

Is the center only for people leaving China?

No. Some centers also perform or verify health examinations used in work, study or residence processes for foreign nationals in China. Those administrative examinations remain separate from outbound travel health, vaccination and ICVP services.

Can the center tell me which vaccinations my destination requires?

The center can explain its own professional and document service, but the competent destination or transit authority owns the current entry requirement. Verify the itinerary and date with that authority; clinical decisions remain with qualified provider staff.

Does a completed examination guarantee a certificate?

No. The center controls completion, review and issue under the exact service. Missing evidence, identity problems, an incompatible form or another provider-controlled issue can change the outcome or timing, and the later recipient separately controls acceptance.

Can I use the same branch for an ICVP and a residence health examination?

Do not assume so. These are different transactions and can use different branches, appointments, materials and outputs under one institutional brand. Follow the confirmation for each exact service.

Will a China-issued international certificate guarantee entry abroad?

No. A correctly issued document remains subject to the destination or transit authority's current rule and individual document check; carriers also apply separate boarding procedures. Preserve the issuer evidence and verify the itinerary close to travel.
