Help us make every healthcare route easier to use

China Care Desk aims to make its information usable by people with different vision, hearing, mobility, cognitive and communication needs.

WCAG 2.2 AAour design and content target—not a claim of full conformance

Our approach

Accessible by design, honest about gaps

We use semantic page structure, keyboard-accessible links and controls, a skip link, visible focus states, descriptive labels, scalable text, plain-language headings and text alternatives for meaningful images. We also try to make complex administrative routes understandable without relying on colour, icons or position alone.

We have not completed an independent, full-site conformance audit and therefore do not claim that every page or component fully conforms to WCAG 2.2 Level AA. New content, browser differences and third-party documents can introduce barriers. We treat accessibility as ongoing editorial and engineering work.

Keyboard and structure

Pages use a skip link, landmarks, ordered headings and controls that are intended to work without a mouse.

Readable information

We use plain English, explicit boundaries, descriptive link text and repeatable page patterns for long administrative guides.

Multiple routes

Search, the guide library, hospital directory and city pages provide different ways to reach the same essential information.

Known limitations

Some material can still be difficult to use

Official external sources may contain scanned PDFs, complex tables, inaccessible forms, Chinese-only interfaces or content outside our control.

Long guide pages contain substantial detail. We provide headings, takeaways and checklists, but some readers may still need a shorter version or another format.

We do not yet publish audio, sign-language or Easy Read versions of every article, and translated versions are not yet available site-wide.

Provider and government websites linked from our pages have their own accessibility, identity and language arrangements.

Accessible use and provider information

Browser zoom, text scaling, reader modes and keyboard navigation can help with this site. Do not enter medical records, passport copies or other sensitive case information into site search.

For an accessible version of a hospital form, appointment route or provider service, use the hospital's official contact route shown on its profile or cited source. Provider and government services control their own formats and accommodations.
