Verify a fertility or assisted-reproduction clinic in China

Match the legal institution, campus, approved technology and operating status before relying on a fertility-centre claim or intermediary in China.

A fertility, reproductive-medicine or IVF label does not by itself prove that a service is an approved human assisted-reproduction programme. Chinese regulation requires human assisted reproductive technology to be performed for medical purposes in approved medical institutions, while a hospital may also provide ordinary gynaecology, infertility assessment or reproductive-health services outside that specific authorization. The latest national publication currently available on the official route was released in November 2025 and lists institutions and approved technologies through June 2025. It is a dated regulatory checkpoint, not a quality ranking or permanent status guarantee. This guide helps foreign patients match an advertised service to the accountable legal institution, exact campus, listed technology and live hospital confirmation. It does not determine patient eligibility from marriage, nationality, residence, sex, family status or any other document; choose a technology or treatment; compare success rates; recommend or rank centres; validate an intermediary; quote a price; or promise access, laboratory handling, pregnancy or outcome.

Use this as a practical starting point

Provider procedures can change, so confirm time-sensitive details with the hospital, insurer or service. A licensed professional must make clinical decisions for an individual patient.

At a glance

Key points

  • Separate ordinary fertility or reproductive-medicine care from regulated human assisted reproductive technology before evaluating a claim.
  • Match the provider's Chinese legal institution name and location to the official institution list through June 2025.
  • Check the exact approved technology and operating status shown for that institution instead of treating approval as a blanket permission.
  • Reconfirm current status, campus, department and appointment through the institution's own official channel because the national list is dated.
  • Verify the legal medical institution separately from an agency, overseas coordinator, consultant, social-media account or payment collector.
  • A licence or list match is not a quality ranking and does not prove language, capacity, patient eligibility, clinical suitability, price or outcome.
  • Do not send passports, relationship documents, medical records or deposits until the accountable institution and data recipient are verified.
  • Preserve claims, confirmations, receipts and complaint references so a misleading identity, scope, payment or handoff problem can be routed accurately.
01

Classify the advertised service before checking approval

Ask the advertiser or hospital to state in Chinese whether the proposed appointment is ordinary gynaecology, reproductive medicine, infertility-related clinical care or a particular human assisted reproductive technology. The national diagnosis-and-treatment catalogue includes several relevant subjects, and institutions may use customary clinic names. Similar public labels do not make their regulatory scope interchangeable, and an ordinary fertility consultation is not proof that the institution may perform every regulated technology.

Request the Chinese legal medical institution name, exact location, department and the precise approved technology claimed. Do not begin with marketing superlatives, package descriptions or an intermediary's English translation. The regulatory question is whether the accountable medical institution and technology match the current official record; the separate clinical question of what service, if any, is appropriate belongs to the qualified institution and patient, not this site.

  • Ordinary fertility care or regulated assisted reproduction
  • Chinese legal institution name
  • Exact campus or listed location
  • Chinese department name
  • Exact technology claimed

A fertility-centre name is a starting point for verification, not evidence of authorization for every advertised service.

02

Match the claim to the latest national publication

Use the National Health Commission publication released in November 2025, which links the approved institution and sperm-bank lists through June 2025. Compare the Chinese institution name, locality, approved technology and operating-status notation with the claim. Save the official entry and publication date. A similar name, affiliated brand or different campus should not be treated as a match without confirmation from the listed legal institution.

The national publication is a time-stamped regulatory check. It does not certify current staffing, laboratory schedule, appointment capacity, foreign-patient registration or continuing authorization after its cutoff. Ask the institution through a contact published on its own official website or account to confirm that the service remains active at the stated location and that the booked department operates under the listed institution. Recheck before a substantial payment or later stage because status and local implementation can change.

  • Official publication date
  • List cutoff through June 2025
  • Exact Chinese institution match
  • Locality and campus match
  • Approved technology match
  • Operating-status notation
03

Verify the institution and named personnel separately

Use the national medical-institution query to compare the provider's legal name and available practice-licence information with the booking and official list, then contact the institution directly. If a physician is named, use the official physician query as a baseline registration check and reconfirm the person's current assignment with the hospital. Neither query inspects an assisted-reproduction laboratory, proves a subspecialty role, ranks expertise or guarantees that a named person will lead the patient's care.

Ask the institution to explain the accountable team, registration desk, laboratory or service unit and record owner in its own workflow. National rules strengthen institutional scope, personnel administration, laboratory controls, traceability and record preservation, but a navigation site cannot audit those internal systems. Do not accept a badge image, copied certificate, personal messaging profile or agency assurance as a substitute for confirmation by the listed legal medical institution.

  • Medical-institution query match
  • Physician query where a doctor is named
  • Current hospital assignment confirmation
  • Accountable department and team
  • Institution-controlled registration and record route

Verify the institution, technology, campus and professional role as separate facts; one correct fact does not validate the rest.

04

Separate the institution from an intermediary or payment collector

Ask every coordinator, translator, travel service or agency to state its legal role and whether it is employed or formally authorized by the medical institution. Confirm independently with the institution what the intermediary may book, translate, collect, receive or access. Assisted-reproduction management measures prohibit relevant commercial misconduct and keep regulated technology within approved medical institutions; an intermediary's service contract cannot expand the medical institution's authorization or make the intermediary the clinical provider.

Before sharing a passport, relationship document or medical history, identify the exact recipient, purpose, secure channel and retention arrangement. Before paying, identify the legal entity receiving money, the service being purchased, cancellation terms and which document will be issued. A deposit to a personal or unrelated company account is not evidence that the hospital accepted a patient, reserved a laboratory service or approved any eligibility or treatment decision.

  • Intermediary's legal entity and role
  • Institution confirmation of any authorization
  • Minimum necessary identity and health data
  • Verified transfer channel
  • Legal payment recipient
  • Written service and cancellation terms
05

Ask the institution to confirm access requirements without assumptions

Request the institution's current written intake checklist for the exact service, including accepted identity documents, name format, documents it asks to review, translation requirements, language support, scheduling process and any institutional or local rule it applies. Submit questions neutrally. Do not infer acceptance or rejection from a person's nationality, marital status, residence, sex, family arrangement or an online account, and do not treat this guide as a statement of legal or clinical eligibility.

Keep document screening, clinical assessment, technology authorization and appointment capacity as distinct decisions. Even when an institution appears on the official list, it may need to verify documents and perform its own clinical process before confirming what it can offer. A coordinator's preliminary approval, a paid consultation or a completed form does not guarantee access to a technology, a particular timeline, medicine, gamete or embryo arrangement, storage service, transfer, pregnancy or outcome.

  • Institution-issued intake checklist
  • Accepted identity and name format
  • Translation or certification requirements
  • Language and interpreter arrangement
  • Appointment and document-review status
  • Written owner of the next administrative step
06

Preserve verification evidence and route discrepancies

Create a dated verification file containing the official list entry, institution-query result, hospital confirmation, appointment record, intermediary role statement, payment instructions and receipts. If the advertised institution, campus, technology or personnel does not match, stop treating the claim as verified and ask the legal institution for clarification. Do not publicly accuse a party based only on a name mismatch; preserve the evidence and use the responsible official route.

Use the medical institution's complaint channel for an unresolved registration, staff-identity, privacy, payment or service-process concern involving that institution. Where a party appears to be representing an unapproved medical provider or a different commercial entity, the competent health, market-regulation, public-security or other authority may have a separate role. This guide does not determine illegality, fraud, professional fault, refund entitlement or compensation and does not replace urgent clinical or public-emergency assistance.

  • Dated official list entry
  • Institution and physician query evidence
  • Direct hospital confirmation
  • Appointment and payment documents
  • Neutral description of any mismatch
  • Institution complaint or competent-authority reference

Avoidable problems

Common mistakes

  • Treating a fertility, IVF or reproductive-medicine label as proof of assisted-reproduction authorization.
  • Matching only an English brand and not the Chinese legal institution.
  • Assuming approval for one technology authorizes every advertised service.
  • Ignoring a campus, locality or operating-status mismatch.
  • Treating the June 2025 list as a permanent live-status guarantee.
  • Using a registry entry as a quality ranking or outcome promise.
  • Accepting an intermediary's identity or authority without hospital confirmation.
  • Sending sensitive documents or deposits to an unverified personal account.
  • Assuming document review proves patient eligibility or a confirmed treatment place.
  • Treating a verification problem as proof of fraud or clinical fault without the competent review.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions

Is the national assisted-reproduction list a clinic ranking?

No. It is a regulatory status reference for listed institutions and technologies. It does not compare quality, staff, language, waiting time, patient experience, price, clinical suitability or outcomes.

How current is the official list used here?

The National Health Commission publication was released in November 2025 and links lists through June 2025. Treat it as a dated checkpoint and reconfirm current status directly with the institution.

Does a listed institution have approval for every technology?

Do not assume so. Match the exact technology and operating status shown for the institution and confirm the current service, campus and department with the legal institution.

Can this guide tell me whether my documents make me eligible?

No. It makes no eligibility promise based on marriage, nationality, residence, sex, family status or any other document. Ask the verified institution for its current intake process and obtain qualified advice where needed.

Can an agency guarantee a place or result?

An intermediary cannot replace the approved medical institution's regulatory, clinical and capacity decisions. Verify its role with the institution, and do not treat any guarantee of access, timeline, pregnancy or outcome as official confirmation.

Does verification mean a clinic is right for me?

No. Verification checks identity and represented scope. It does not make a clinical choice, compare centres or determine patient suitability, treatment, safety, price or expected outcome.
